With the advent of practical digital audio recording, the real cost of a multi track recording set up is within the reach of even the most impoverished musician. With this in mind we would assume the overall level of quality music available to be rising. But it isn't. WHY? In the days of audio recording being an expensive business, the necessary equipment would only be found in a studio, and the engineers who worked with it every day would know how to get the best out of their equipment. New employees would learn this on the job. Today, digital models of nearly any piece of kit can be downloaded with a few clicks, but the skills to get the best out of it cannot. As a result, all over the world bedroom engineers are unable to understand why their recordings don't sound the same as those of experienced engineers using the same equipment. (Often their clients can't either...) Here at SausageAudio, all our employees are time served recording engineers. Equipped with industry standard mics, processors, FX and interfaces, we can provide the results you need quickly and painlessly, whilst not breaking the bank. With the recent property boom, space has never been so expensive. More and more of us are having to get used to living in smaller homes, and as a result, spaces for mixing and recording in are shrinking too. These spaces affect the way we hear and perceive sound - different sound frequencies have different wavelengths, and thus behave differently according to the size of the environment. Certain frequencies are boosted, certain frequencies are attenuated giving each room a different sound. Experienced mixing engineers understand this and can take steps to avoid or work round mixing 'to a room'. Inexperienced mixers will end up with a mix that sounds great in one size room, but unbalanced anywhere else, and be at a loss to remedy the problem. Here at SausageAudio, our staff spent a jolly couple of days sewing sheets of rockwool into old duvet covers which we can position to minimise room sound in both recording and mixing environments.
